Elena Merendelli

Elena Merendelli was born in the medieval walled town of Anghiari, Tuscany, Italy.

From an early age, she demonstrated an irresistible passion for drawing and all forms of creative art. Elena studied and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence.

She currently lives and works in Anghiari; her studio is located in front of the church of Pieve di Sovara, a sacred building from the 10th-11th century, two kilometres from Anghiari, nestled in the stunning Tuscan hills, surrounded by natural beauty.

In this evocative space, she creates, develops and exhibits her works; among these exhibitions, of particular note are the terracotta sculptures and paintings that are on antique panels.

She restores a new life to pieces lost to history. Elena also works to commission, subjects are discussed with the client, such as tromp-l’oeil and paintings on all kinds of materials.

Typical subjects are female figures, motherhood, details of Tuscan landscapes and native birds.
